Morgan Helms started Helms Polyfoam with one goal in mind: “I wanted to solve problems while minimizing downtime for companies.”
Having worked in the oil industry for many years, Helms saw firsthand the damage done to a company’s bottom line because of lengthy, prolonged and intrusive repairs. Those experiences led to the creation of Helms Polyfoam, a chemical grouting and soil stabilization company based in central Mississippi.
We wanted to sit down and get to know the man behind Helms Polyfoam. Take a look at our Q & A below to learn more about Morgan, his family, some things he enjoys, and what he sees for Helms Polyfoam on the horizon.
Q: Please tell us a little bit about the history of HPF. How did it begin? What inspired it?
A: I started Helms Polyfoam with one goal in mind – identify problems and be the company to address them with minimal to no downtime for our clients. I have always wanted to be a business owner, and when I came across the opportunity to start this business, I knew it would be the one I’d enjoy the most. It’s challenging at times, but I love it.
Q: What sets Helms Polyfoam and your solutions apart from other options?
A: We know how inconvenient and costly it can be to excavate to make repairs. The mess. The downtime. It all creates disruption to business. Many people put off repairs just to avoid these headaches. HPF’s permanent, MDOT-approved solutions don’t require you to shut down operations or leave you with a big mess. No excavation required! And most of our repairs are ready for traffic within 30 minutes.
Q: Have there been any particular projects that have stood out to you where HPF has solved seemingly impossible problems?
A: One of my favorite projects was the first pond dam we repaired for an individual in the Bridgewater subdivision of Ridgeland, MS. It was rewarding to put in the hard work and successfully fix the issue exactly like we all had planned/hoped it would. It also gave me the confidence to know I can aim for bigger projects and have success.
Q: What are a few of the clients and projects HPF is currently working on?
A: Currently we are working on stabilizing launch pads for NASA, port and infrastructure projects throughout the state through private parties, and dam restorations for the Army Corps of Engineers.
Q: Please tell us a little bit about you and your family, as well as where you live and what you enjoy doing.
A: Although I am a native of Eupora, I currently reside in Ridgeland, Mississippi, with my wife Megan and our two children, a girl, Whittin, and a boy, Walt, both under the age of 4. I enjoy being outdoors, which includes doing things like camping, riding on the boat, fishing, shooting sporting clays, and working in the yard.
Thank you, Morgan!
