Pond, Levee & Dam Repair the Helms Way

With a number of different polyurethane resins in our arsenal to seal off leaks for good, Helms Polyfoam is specialized and experienced in pond, levee & dam repair. We first begin our repair process by choosing the right product needed for each specific repair.

For example, for leaks in earthen dams (levees), deep soil injections are made with low viscosity, catalyst-activated resins that permeate the soil. Their job is simple – seek out the smallest of leaks without any disruption to the soil. Once the leak has been traced, the catalyst is added to activate the resin to begin the sealing process, which results in a solid, water-impermeable repair.

Did we mention this is done without the need for excavation or draining any water? Because no excavation or draining is needed, there is no harm or disruption to fish or other aquatic wildlife! In fact, all our polyurethane resin products have received the official NSF seal of approval for contact with drinking water.

For leaks in concrete dams or seawalls, cracks are injected with low viscosity, flexible, and hydrophobic polyurethane resin that is specifically designed to seek out the smallest cracks and shut off water leaks – now and in the future.

One of our former pond levee repair projects took place in Florence, Mississippi, where a site evaluation confirmed an active leak through a pond dam. Washouts were observed on each side of the dam, and further inspection revealed water actively undermining a cement layer at the bottom of the washout on the side of the levee.

After backfilling the washed-out areas, a hydrophobic, permeating resin was used to stop the leak and stabilize all soil around the washout. The initial injections were performed to stop the leak, with subsequent injections of permeating resin, spanning approximately 16’ of the levee, to bind the soil together and create a water impermeable barrier.

Helms Polyfoam uses the best-fit product for each pond, levee & dam repair solution.  Utilizing our no-excavation methods, we save our customers valuable time and money with this cost-effective and permanent solution!
