Seawall Problem? Helms has the Solution!

If you live, work, or play near water, odds are you have seen several seawalls. When working properly they help prevent erosion and protect your property. However, if you’ve noticed any ground caving in behind the seawall, then voids and/or leaks are likely present. If left unchecked, a seemingly small problem can quickly become a big, costly headache.

Seawalls, levees, lakes, underwater sewer systems, dams, and more can all suffer from leaks and need repair. If it has water in it or has access to water, it can leak at – anytime. At Helms Polyfoam, our contractors specialize in using the right techniques and the right polyurethane resins to stop erosion and leaks in seawalls. We take loose and unstable soils behind seawalls and turn them into a consolidated, water-impermeable structure to prevent further erosion and relieve hydrostatic pressure on your leaking or aging seawall.

What’s even better? Our work requires no excavation and very little downtime! Don’t believe us? Keep reading to learn more!

We begin with an initial site evaluation and inspection to determine the type and extent of the leak causing the soil erosion and whether voids or sinkholes are present. Once the scope of the project has been determined, we get to work on a repair plan to mitigate the issue.

If your erosion, sinkhole, or void presence is significant, it might be necessary to bring in new fill material. Once the new material has been put into place, we inject our permeating resins to secure and solidify it. These resins “lock” your structure into place and bind it to the surrounding soils and the seawall structure.

In some cases, the problem has not yet reached the point of causing a significant void or sinkhole.  In this type of leak, we can use deep injections of our permeating resins to seal it off easily and permanently.  If needed, additional injections are then performed along the toe of the wall to ensure a secure, water-impermeable barrier is established to mitigate the erosion.

Regardless of the level of damage to your seawall – whether in the beginning phases or significantly impacted with sinkholes already present – Helms Polyfoam utilizes the best fit product for each seawall repair. We don’t believe there’s a “one-product-fits-all” approach, and we take your specific needs and conditions to heart. In fact, we have a bevy of satisfied customers to prove it.
